
Official Colorado Division of Wildlife Rules
You must have a current Colorado State fishing license to fish the Taylor River. To purchase one online, please go to Department of Wildlife. Harmel's does not sell licenses.
Residency Qualifications:
- Anyone who has lived continuously in Colorado for at least six months immediately before buying a license and who intends to make Colorado home.
- Active Duty US armed services personnel, and their dependants (no reserve or National Guard).
- Full time students enrolled in an accredited Colorado college or University at least six months immediately before purchasing a license.
- Fifteen years and under no license required (resident or non-resident).

Resident License Fees:
- Resident Annual $20.25
- Senior Annual (64yrs.) $10.25
- Combination - Fishing and Small Game $30.25
Non-Resident License Fees:
- Non-resident Annual $40.25
Resident or Non-resident:
- Five Day license $18.25
- One Day license $5.25
- Second Rod Stamp $4.00
Bag and Possession limits:
All streams and rivers west of the Continental Divide except waters with special regualtions:
- Daily Bag Limit 4
- Possession Limit 8
Colorado Division of Wildlife 2007 Limits and Restrictions
Taylor River - Gunnison County
From Gunnison, go 11 miles north on Highway 135 to Road 742, Taylor River Road. Then go seven miles east to Harmel's Ranch Resort.
Fishing: Cold water stream
Restrictions:
- Artificial flies or lures only.
- All fish must be returned to the water IMMEDIATELY. Public access and fishing prohibited from top of Taylor Dam to 325 yards downstream.
- Camping prohibited
- Fires Prohibited
- Hunting Prohibited
- Parking prohibited except in designated areas
- *Private land starts .4 miles downstream from the dam
Spring Creek - Gunnison County
From Gunnison, go north on highway 135 to Almont. Turn right on county road 742, travel seven miles to Spring Creek.
Fishing: Cold water stream
Restrictions:
- Artificial flies and lures only.
- All fish must be returned to the water IMMEDIATELY.
